Bollywood star Swara Bhasker's had sourced her festive outfit from Lahore to Bareilly in India via Dubai.

The star wore an outfit designed by famed designer Ali Xeeshan

Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar and Fahad Ahmad threw a grand wedding reception on Sunday, which was hosted by the groom’s family in Bareilly, India. Swara turned up in a gorgeous outfit by top Pakistani designer Ali Xeeshan.

The actress took to social media to give fans a glimpse of the beige-coloured lehenga (dress) which travelled from Pakistan to Dubai and Mumbai before arriving at the star's home in Delhi. Her husband matched the bride's dress in a gold kurta and a white sherwani.Xeeshan, who is a stylist for the stars, is one of the biggest names in the fashion industry in the country.

The heavily embroidered dress featured floral work with pearl inlays. The star paired the outfit with matching jewellery.

They tied the knot during a court marriage ceremony in February following which they held a grand reception earlier this month in New Delhi.

A large number of celebrities and personalities from the political world turned up for the event, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, actress and politician Jaya Bachchan, Congress leader Sashi Tharoor and Rajya Sabha member Derek O’Brien.

Swara is also an activist while her husband Fahad is the state president of Samajwadi Party's youth wing – Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha.

Fahad is four years younger than the actress. The couple met during protests in 2020 and got into a relationship after meeting at consecutive rallies. Swara will next be seen in a film, titled Mrs Falani.

And the dress for her and her husband Fahad Ahmad, underwent a long journey before making it to the wedding ceremony. From Lahore to Dubai and then Mumbai, Delhi and Bareilly, which is Ahmed’s hometown. The ‘Nila Baatey Sannata’ and ‘Veere Di Wedding’ actress thanked Ali Xeeshan Theatre Studio for designing her outfits. “Ali Xeeshan not only sent Jodi (pair) outfits for @FahadZirarAhmad & me, but customised them painstakingly with personalised details & messages embroidered into the exquisite garments,” she wrote on Twitter. Ahmad is an activist with the Samajwadi Party, which has influence in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. The former chief minister of the state, Akhilesh Yadav, heads the political party. Ahmad served as general secretary of the Tata Institute of Social Science Student's Union.

Friends and family members turned up at the reception in Bareilly, which was hosted by Ahmad's family. While Bhasker wore the gold lehenga by Ali Xeeshan and completed her look with a tradtiional nose ring, Ahmad matched her opulent outfit with a gold sherwani.

The couple skipped the traditional wedding ceremony, opting instead only for a registered marriage. Bhasker, who has also starred in the Bollywood hits 'Ranjhanaa' and the sitcoms 'Rasbhari' and 'Flesh', said the two met at a political rally three years ago when they fell in love.

Bhasker's father, C Uday Bhaskar, is a retired Commodre from the Indian Navy who heads an independent think-tank in New Delhi. Her mother, Ira Bhasker, is a noted academician and is a professor of cinema studies at the Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Bhasker and Ahmad got married in February. The couple then threw a reception in Delhi, which was attended by many leading Indian politicians. Some of them included Indian National Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, actress-politician Jaya Bachchan from the Samajwadi Party and Surpiya Sule from the Nationalist Congress Party. Swara and Fahad shared pictures from their reception on social media. Bhasker wore a pink lehenga for the event, while Ahmad wore an ivory and gold sherwani.
